LawFinance Limited

ASX-listed, LawFinance Ltd (formerly JustKapital Ltd) is a specialist provider of alternative financial solutions that directly resonates with the immediate and emerging demands of the legal profession in Australia.

Disbursement funding

Release capital constraints. Take on additional cases. Generate more revenue.

JustKapital is a leading provider of disbursement funding (out-of-pocket expenses) for law firms. Repayments of the funded disbursements are not contingent on the outcome of the underlying cases.

Disbursement funding is well-aligned to support small to medium-sized personal injury and commercial litigation firms, as well as firms that seek growth without cash flow implications. This facility enables cases to progress without being obstructed by the need to finance third-party costs upfront. The deferred payment structure provides certainty as to the cost, with no complicated calculations leading up to settlement. Common disbursements include medico-legal, radiology and expert reports, as well as Court filing fees.

JustKapital’s business model is beneficial to each entity:

Lawyers

  • Allows access reports and medical assessments that help progress a matter
  • Releases working capital restraints
  • Enables cases to move forward quickly
  • Increases the number of cases a law firm can actively manage (without cash flow implications to the law firm)
  • Provides more cash flow flexibility
  • Facilitates growth
  • Reduces administration and streamlines accounts receivables

Clients

  • Assists clients unable to pay for the out-pocket expenses of their case.
  • Enables cases to progress quickly
  • Some claims would not be able to proceed in the absence of disbursement funding

How it works

JustKapital has a simple and transparent funding model whereby the disbursements are paid on behalf of a law firm while a matter is in progress. A flat mark-up is applied to all disbursements incurred, and charged to the law firm upon the case completion.
